Executive Summary
- Documents fall into four groups: identity, business, financial, and property
- All promoters must submit individual documents — not just the primary applicant
- CMA data and DPR are the financial documents SBI scrutinises most closely
- CGTMSE-backed applications need identical documents but skip property/collateral papers
Identity and Promoter Documents
- PAN of all promoters — individual and entity both
- Aadhaar of all promoters
- Passport-size photographs of all promoters
- Address proof — electricity bill, Aadhaar, or rent agreement for each promoter
- CIBIL report — SBI typically pulls this internally, but having your own recent copy helps you identify any issues before submission
Business and Registration Documents
- Udyam Registration Certificate — current and correctly classified
- Constitution documents — MOA/AOA for companies, partnership deed for firms, proprietorship declaration
- GST registration certificate
- Shop and Establishment licence or relevant trade licence
- FSSAI certificate for food processing businesses
Financial Documents
- 3 years of audited financial statements — P&L, Balance Sheet, Notes
- 3 years of IT returns with acknowledgement receipts
- 12–24 months of bank statements for all accounts
- GST returns (GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B) for the last 12 months
- CMA Data — all 6 forms covering 3 actuals and 3 projections; see our CMA data guide
- DPR for term loans and new projects; see our DPR guide
- Existing loan statements — outstanding balance and repayment history for all current facilities
"SBI's SME desk officers review dozens of files weekly. A complete, well-organised submission gets processed faster — not as a favour, but because it removes the back-and-forth that delays every incomplete file."
Property and Security Documents
- Property title documents for primary security — sale deed, property card, encumbrance certificate
- Property valuation report from SBI-approved valuer
- Latest property tax receipt
- Mortgage documents if primary security is land or building
The CGTMSE-Backed Variation
For CGTMSE-backed collateral-free proposals, the property and security documents above are not required — instead, CGTMSE eligibility documentation (Udyam Registration in the correct category, proposed guarantee fee confirmation) replaces them. The identity, business, and financial documents remain unchanged.
